Large original published artwork by Adam Kubert for “The Beast in Them,” the opening story in Wolverine: Black, White & Blood #1, published by Marvel Comics on November 4, 2020. The ten-page story was written by Gerry Duggan, with Kubert providing both pencils and inks and Frank Martin adding the red coloring for publication.
Created as a huge 22 × 30 inch DPS, the artwork uses a grid of sixteen panels to contrast Wolverine's brutal Weapon X encounters with observation and experimentation sequences. The unusually large format allows Kubert's detailed pen and ink work to be seen at an impressive scale. Adam Kubert (American, b. 1959) is one of the leading American comic artists of his generation and a member of the celebrated Kubert family of artists, alongside his father Joe Kubert and brother Andy Kubert. He is particularly associated with Wolverine and the X-Men, while his extensive Marvel and DC career also includes major work on The Incredible Hulk, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Superman and Batman. His long association with Wolverine makes original artwork featuring the character an especially representative part of his career.
