Notes: Original published full-page opening splash from The Uncanny X-Men #275. The Starjammers board Deathbird's flagship and encounter the Imperial Guard. The X-Men are introduced to the Shi'ar warlord, who turns out to be Professor X. This dramatic splash opens the issue with the Starjammers and a cosmic Professor X dominating the composition. Written by Chris Claremont, with Jim Lee pencils and Scott Williams inks during one of the defining periods of the title. Signed by Jim Lee in the lower left corner.

Jim Lee (Korean-American, b. 1964) became one of the defining comic artists of the late 1980s and 1990s through his work on Punisher War Journal and, above all, Uncanny X-Men and X-Men. X-Men #1 (1991), drawn by Lee and written by Chris Claremont, became one of the best-selling American comic books ever published. Lee later co-founded Image Comics and created WildStorm before taking major creative and executive roles at DC Comics. Scott Williams (American, b. 1960) is one of the most celebrated modern comic-book inkers and Lee's most famous artistic collaborator; their partnership has extended across X-Men, WildC.A.T.s, Batman, Superman and numerous other major projects.
