Original preliminary movie poster painting by legendary illustrator Bob Peak for Any Which Way You Can, the 1980 Clint Eastwood action-comedy and sequel to the enormously successful Every Which Way But Loose.
The composition centers on Clint Eastwood as Philo Beddoe, surrounded by a montage of characters and scenes from the film, including the unmistakable presence of Clyde the orangutan. Peak explores many of the visual elements that would characterize the finished advertising campaign while presenting them in a markedly different composition.
This is exceptionally detailed and really closely aligned to the composition, look and detail of the finished piece.
Peak's finished artwork was used extensively for the movie's advertising, including the original U.S. one-sheet, and was subsequently adapted for international campaigns. Original Italian posters from the film's first 1981 Italian release, for example, also credit Peak's artwork.

Bob Peak (1927–1992) was one of the most important American illustrators of the twentieth century and a central figure in the development of the modern illustrated movie poster. His distinctive combination of portraiture, montage, expressive color and graphic design produced some of cinema's most recognizable advertising imagery.
His movie poster work includes West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Camelot, Rollerball, The Spy Who Loved Me, Superman, Apocalypse Now, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Excalibur, The Dark Crystal, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Silverado. He also created the artwork for Eastwood's Every Which Way But Loose in 1978.
