Steve Sampson – Harmony: “Headcase”, Part 2, Page 20 – Judge Dredd Megazine Vol. 3 #9
Year: 1995
Published: 10 November 1995 – Judge Dredd Megazine Vol. 3 #9
Story: Harmony – Headcase, Part 2 Page: 20
Writer: Chris Standley
Artist: Steve Sampson
Medium: Acrylic
Size: 12 x 16 inches (30 x 41 com)
Original published colour comic artwork by Steve Sampson for Harmony: Headcase – Part 2, published in Judge Dredd Megazine Vol. 3 #9 on 10 November 1995.
Headcase was a three-part 18-page Harmony story, written by Chris Standley and illustrated by Steve Sampson, running through Judge Dredd Megazine Vol. 3 #8–10. It followed Sampson's earlier work on the character in Genocide and forms part of his substantial mid-1990s contribution to the Megazine.
The page is a particularly striking example of Sampson's fully painted color work, using large areas of graphic black, intense yellows, purples and greens and strongly silhouetted figures. The unusual composition and color treatment are characteristic of the more experimental painted artwork appearing in the Judge Dredd Megazine during this period.
Artist: Steve Sampson
Steve Sampson is a British comic artist particularly associated with Judge Dredd Megazine and 2000 AD. Lambiek identifies him as one of the principal Megazine artists and specifically credits his work on Brit-Cit Babes, Harmony Krieg and Anderson.
